Soon Tofu: Korean Spicy Tofu Soup

An easy Korean dish I like to make when I don’t feel like cooking up a storm, is Soon Tofu. Practically it’s spicy tofu stew.

Soon tofu soup is that one side dish soup that korean bbq places will  serve you… It’s  that red soup with the tofu? You know that one? haha.

Cooking this dish is super easy and fast to make.

Here is my version of Soon Tofu.

(Remember you can specialize it to your tasting.)


-5 C. Water

-4 cloves Garlic (minced)

-1/4 C. Chopped Onions

-1 tube Silken Tofu

-2tbsp. Fish Sauce

-Seasame Oil

-Pepper flakes

-Black pepper

-1/4 c. Shitake Mushrooms

-Enokitake (Skinny Long mushrooms)

-1-2 tbsp. Gochujang Paste /Korean Chili Paste (adjust to your likings)

-a few dried Anchovy (optional)

-Shrimp (people use shredded beef also)

-Kimchi (optional)

-Fish Cake (optional)

– Chopped Green Onion (to top it off)

-1 tbsp Miso Dashi Paste (optional)

-Egg (optional)

Bare with me…We are going to make this dish as easy as possible!


1. Boil water.

2. Add all ingredients in water, (except egg). Mix until all ingredients are “harmonized” as one… aka (tastes good)

3. After 5-7 mins of boiling, add in egg. Boil for 1-2 mins till egg is cooked.

4. Top soup off with Green Onions.

Viola! Soon Tofu Soup!

I swear it’s easy. I wing it every time I make it and it always turns out yummy.
